Choral Awards

Choral scholarships are offered in all voices, via the Intercollegiate Choral Scholarship Auditions held each September. In addition to the subsidised singing lessons and free formal dinners offered to all choir members, choral scholars receive a stipend which is currently £100 per year.

The Choir

The choir has 28 members, made up of volunteers and Choral Award holders. It sings to a high standard and there is a good social atmosphere. The choir rehearses before the services and on Thursdays. Time commitment amounts to approximately six or seven hours each week, with some extra services and concerts each term.

The choir is fully involved in the flourishing musical life of the College. The Music Society regularly organises orchestral and choral concerts, chamber music series and organ recitals. There is considerable freedom for administrative and musical input by choir members both in the running of Chapel music and in the musical activities of the College.

There is an annual choir tour, and several Cathedral visits and concerts each year. In recent years the Choir has been featured twice on BBC Radio 4's Sunday Worship and Daily Service, toured in Slovakia and the Czech Republic, Italy, Southern Spain, Hong Kong and the Netherlands, and sung at a number of large churches and cathedrals in England, including Westminster Abbey. The Choir will visit Berlin this summer.
