Teacher Conference: Humanities at Cambridge
Humanities at Cambridge
24-26 March 2012 at Robinson College, University of Cambridge
Humanities courses at Cambridge are changing from the next academic year. There are two new courses, Human, Social and Political Sciences, and Psychological and Behavioural Sciences. The conference focus is primarily on these new courses and on Law. These are all courses for which there are no specific school subject requirements. Instead, we are looking for particular sets of skills that applicants can develop while studying a range of School subjects.
Delegates arrive during the evening of Saturday 24 March. It is also possible to arrive on the morning of Sunday 25 March because the main programme runs from 10.30 am, Sunday 25 March to 2.00pm Monday 26 March. Sessions will include:
- presentation on Cambridge Humanities courses
- tour of the College and visit to the Departments
- workshop on preparing students for university courses with no specific school subject requirements
- overview of the admissions process
- mock Cambridge interviews with current undergraduates
- good practice in supporting applications
The cost of £40 includes two night's accommodation, refreshments, a light supper on Saturday, breakfast, light lunch and a wine reception and dinner on Sunday, and breakfast and light lunch on Monday.
The event is organised by Dr Chris Warner, Admissions Tutor at Robinson. Lecturers in Humanities will be taking part, and there will be opportunities to meet current undergraduates on the Humanities courses at Cambridge.
Humanities teachers, Sixth Form Heads/Deputies and Higher Education Advisers are all welcome to attend, with a maximum of two representatives per school.
Book online for the conference.
If you have any queries about the event, please contact Esme Page, Admissions Assistant (apply@robinson.cam.ac.uk).
