Maths is the Key
22-24 March 2012 at Robinson College, University of Cambridge
Mathematics is an essential prerequisite for a number of science courses at Cambridge University and, also, for Economics as it is taught at Cambridge. The conference focus is primarily on Mathematics and Computer Science at Cambridge but there will also be some information on Natural Sciences and Engineering.
Delegates arrive during the evening of Thursday 22 March. It is also possible to arrive on the morning of Friday 23 March because the main programme runs from 10.30 am, Friday 23 March to 2.00pm Saturday 24 March. Sessions will include:
- presentation on Cambridge courses with a high mathematical content
- tour of the College and visit to the Departments
- workshop on preparing students for university courses with a high mathematical content
- overview of the admissions process
- mock Cambridge interviews for mathematics and computer science
- good practice in supporting applications
The cost of £40 includes two night's accommodation, refreshments, a light supper on Thursday, breakfast, light lunch, a wine reception and dinner on Friday, and breakfast and light lunch on Saturday.
The event is organised by Dr Chris Warner, Director of Studies in Mathematics and Admissions Tutor at Robinson. Lecturers and College Teachers in Computer Sciences will also be taking part, and there will be opportunities to meet current undergraduates on the Mathematics and Computer Science courses at Cambridge.
Mathematics and Computing Teachers, Sixth Form Heads/Deputies and Higher Education Advisers are all welcome to attend, with a maximum of two representatives per school.
