Introduction and how to book
Especially popular for special occasions or for Society or Club events, the Catering Department can arrange private functions for small or large groups. If you are interested, full details of menus, wines and prices are available. Please visit the Catering Office on High Court U staircase.

Catering utensils and equipment for hire
China, cutlery and glassware may be hired from the Catering Department with at least 24 hours notice.
Cutlery, china and glassware is charged at 5p per item per 24-hour period of hire. A minimum £20 returnable deposit is required on all hired equipment. This will increase where the hire charge exceeds the deposit. Any items returned in a dirty state will be subject to a charge of 6p per item. All breakages will be charged at the full current replacement cost.
Cooking utensils are subject to availability from the kitchen and are charged at 50p per item per 24-hour period of hire. A £50 returnable deposit is required. Any damage to equipment will be charged at the replacement cost price. Items returned in a dirty condition will be charged a further 20p per item.
To order equipment for hire you must see a Supervisor in the Garden Restaurant before 2:00pm on any day at least 24 hours before you need the equipment. Alternatively you can call on 39133. Arrangements must be made by 12 noon on Friday for items required over the weekend.
Please note that we have a very limited spare stock for this facility. Therefore do not arrange a function without checking availability of stock first.
Disposable items are available for purchase.
A la Carte
This is also an option for a special occasion or birthday, for small groups (maximum ten). This is a served meal at a table set aside in the Garden Restaurant, with table cloths, flowers and all cutlery. Menus for this are available on request from Garden Restaurant supervisors. These meals are available at Monday to Friday lunchtimes and Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings during Garden Restaurant opening hours. To arrange such a meal please ask a Garden Restaurant supervisor for details and please book a minimum of 48 hours in advance to allow for food purchases to be made.
