Alex Short (2015) has been selected to compete for the British u23’s in the upcoming European Cross Country Championships to be held in Sardinia. Alex trained with the Blue’s squad whilst studying at Robinson, won the Blue’s Varsity match and competed for Britain as a junior in 2014. He impressed the British selectors following his performance in the American College Nationals where he finished 22nd, a phenomenal achievement given the quality of distance running in the US.  The European Championships will be shown live on the Red Button from 9:10am-1:00pm on Sunday 11th December with an hour of highlights on BBC 2 at 16:00 so do please tune in to watch. In other news, 3 current Robinson undergrads; Ollie Fox, Paddy Roddy and MacGregor Cox all competed in the 126th Men’s Blue’s Race on Saturday 3rd December. Ollie Fox won the race and Cambridge convincingly beat Oxford with 33 points vs.45. Each of these runners will be aiming to make the team for BUCS where Cambridge hopes to dislodge the sporting giants of Birmingham and Loughborough in order to challenge for a team medal. The strength of the Cambridge team is highlighted by their ability to compete with such well-renowned universities, so for 3 of the Blue’s team to be composed of Robinson undergrads is an excellent achievement.
