Robinson College’s first two dine+ events were a great success. With a fine-dining evening and a Korean themed dinner, the College has shown their ability to deliver engaging experiences to remember
Robinson College kicked off its dine+ offering in May – a series of dining experiences that evidence the added value that it can offer to events as a university.
The first evening was a fine-dining event with the ambition of profiling the College’s local suppliers. Guests were welcomed to the Crausaz Wordsworth Building with champagne and an opportunity to approach various chef stations to sample sushi and canapés. This was followed by dinner in the state-of-the-art plenary room, where the College’s local suppliers took to the stage throughout the meal to speak about the produce that featured on the menu.
For its second dine+ evening, Robinson College collaborated with college Fellow and Korean Studies lecturer Dr Michael Shin to deliver an authentic Korean dining experience to guests on 8th June. This was the first themed evening of the series, which began with a round of mojitos made with the traditional Soju, a popular South Korean beverage.
Throughout the evening, Dr Michael Shin introduced each dish and explained the history of each dish and the dinner table etiquette. Korean culture places focus on social gatherings and community, which was evidenced in the guests’ numerous opportunities to interact with the chefs and discuss the food. Wines were paired with each of the courses, supplied by Cambridge Wine Merchants.
Alex Moreau, conference and catering manager at Robinson College, said: “We’re excited to launch our dine+ service and provide guests with events that showcase the talents of our chefs. We’re excited to continue building on the success of our themed dining events to deliver a unique experience for our guests and profile local suppliers.”
The next dine+ event will be a Greek evening hosted on Friday 22nd September at the Crausaz Wordsworth Building. For more information, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
