We were delighted with the Robinson College Open Art Exhibition, especially with the wide range of works from people across the whole range of College. The final list is now attached: 11 Staff, 7 Students, 8 Fellows and Senior Members and 2 Friends of College.

There were some great comments in the Visitors Book: "Excellent", "So Interesting", "Impressive", "Beautiful", "Inspiring", "So varied" and so on but one summed up the whole endeavour "I never knew we had so much talent in College - and especially amongst the Staff."

The Judges had a difficult task. They were two professional artists: Diane Firth, whose portraits of College Fellows hang in the SCR, and Paul Ashurst, whose works hang in the Crausaz Wordsworth Building, together with Susanna West Yates of the Visual Arts Committee as Chair of the Judges.

Their 3 equal prizes were awarded to Isabel Mathers for Still Life (oil), Olesya Razuvayevskaya for Through the Vintage Mirror (graphite on rag paper) and Donald Richards for Chapel Robinson College (platinum/palladium print). Highly Commended were Linda Hunns for Snow at Robinson (chalk pastel), Kerry Dawkins (née Howley) for Attraction/Aversion # 3 (hair jewelry) and Helen Grattidge with Evan Grattidge (age 8) for Going up Garrowby Hill (paper quilting).

We hope to repeat this event in a few years’ time.

Additionally now we know there is all this talent in out there we are hoping to display some of it around College e.g. in the Red Brick Café and Garden Restaurant and to use it in other ways such as printing some new greetings cards for College members to use.

All best wishes
