19th, 20th and 21st century literature; modernism; history and theory of literary criticism; philosophy of language; intellectual history; prose.
Teaching Interests
Helen teaches for Part I (1830-present and Practical Criticism). For Part II, her main teaching is for Papers 1 (Practical Criticism), 6 (History and Theory of Literary Criticism) and 8 (English Moralists). She also offers some supervision for topics within Papers 2 (Tragedy), 7c (Lyric) and 7d (Modernism and the Short Story).
