Robinson College Chapel Choir offers Choral Scholarships in all voices. Choral Scholars receive free singing lessons and a stipend of £100 per year, in addition to a free Formal Hall dinner after Evensong each week; they play a leading role in their vocal section and within the choir as a whole.

Applications for a choral award are made after receiving an offer of a place to study at Cambridge. Anyone who has an offer of a place can apply, whether or not they indicated an interest in choral awards on the Supplementary Application Form. Applications must be received by the deadline of 15 February 2016. The application process and the auditions are fully explained on the University's Choral Awards webpage

The Choir

The choir has around 26 members, made up of volunteers and Choral Award holders. It sings to a very high standard, works hard within a very manageable time-commitment of 3 rehearsals and 2 services a week during termtime, totalling a little under 7 hours a week, with occasional extra concerts and a summer tour. There is an excellent social atmosphere.

The choir enjoys inspiring direction from Simon Brown, the renowned Choral Director, who works with them throughout the year together with the two organ scholars.

The choir is fully involved in the flourishing musical life of the College. The Music Society regularly organises regular concerts of chamber music, close harmony, jazz, piano and organ recitals as well as choral and orchestral music.

There is an annual choir tour, and several Cathedral visits and concerts each year. In recent years the Choir has been featured twice on BBC Radio 4's Sunday Worship and Daily Service, toured in Italy, Spain, Germany, Hong Kong and the Netherlands, and sung at a number of English cathedrals including Westminster Abbey and Ely Cathedral. This year the Choir will visit Paris for a series of prestigious concerts in some of the city's grandest and most beautiful churches.
