Computer Science

Robinson is an excellent college at which to study Computer Science. We have four Fellows in the subject, all of whom take an active part in small group teaching in the college, and this means that our Computer Science students are very well supported. Robinson is also only a ten minute, traffic-free walk, away from the Computer Laboratory and therefore is one of the closest colleges to the department.

Classics

All students spend two years on the Part I course and, though most go on to read Classics Part II (normally a one-year course), it may be possible to change to another subject. Subjects successfully combined with Classics include History, Law, English, History of Art, Theology, and Social and Political Sciences. Papers from other Triposes are also available within the Classics Part II.

Subject Requirements

3 year course:

Essential: A Level/IB Higher Level Latin and/or Greek.

Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology

The Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology Tripos is a direct entry course for students applying for October 2023 entry onwards.

Our course concentrates on the scientific principles that underpin the discipline. These principles are essential to develop processes and products that address some of the problems currently facing humanity. These include the energy transition away from fossil fuels, the need for sustainable food and water supplies as climate change occurs, and the provision of improved global healthcare solutions and therapeutics.

Asian and Middle Eastern Studies

Please note; Robinson only takes applications for Chinese or Japanese Studies.

Architecture

The Architecture Tripos gives an unrivalled design-based general degree to some of our graduates, but for most it is the first step to the profession. It cumulatively provides exemption from part 1 of the RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) Examination, and it must therefore be taken as a whole.

Subject Requirements

Essential All applicants are expected to show a portfolio of recent work at interview.

Desirable: AS or A Level / IB Standard or Higher Level Mathematics or Physics.

Archaeology

Archaeology covers a huge range of topics, spanning the evolution of humans through the development of farming, ancient civilisations and world empires, as well as the role of material culture in human life and of heritage in modern societies. Students can follow several streams – Archaeology (covering all world cultures), Biological Anthropology, Egyptology and Assyriology.

Anglo-Saxon, Norse, and Celtic

The Anglo-Saxon, Norse, and Celtic Tripos (known as ASNC) offers a unique opportunity to study the history, languages and literatures of the peoples of the British Isles, and Scandinavia, mainly in the early medieval period. It is unique in that there are few other courses which allow you, for example, not only to study Anglo-Saxon history, but at the same time to be able to read - in the original - the writings of the Anglo-Saxons, and of their neighbours the Irish and Welsh, as well as studying the handwriting of the manuscripts which these peoples have left us.

Donor Day

Robinson College hosted its annual Donor Day on Saturday 24 June 2023, to celebrate those who have supported Robinson over the years.

Donor Day is one of the events in the College's calendar which gives us the opportunity to thank our donors for their continued support of the College, and for helping us to keep Robinson a place where our rich academic and social community can thrive.

Thank you to all those who attended!
