Warden's Introduction

Sir Richard HeatonWelcome to Robinson College. We are the newest Cambridge college: an inspiring, beautiful place in which to live and study. In these pages you can read about our academic programmes, the sporting, performance and creative scenes at Robinson, the phenomenal research carried out by our Fellowship, and what it’s like to be a student here. And if you would like to know more, please get in touch, or come and see us.

We were founded in 1977 by an early Cambridge tech entrepreneur, Sir David Robinson. Not surprisingly, enterprise and innovation remain central to the College that bears his name. We are academically ambitious, interested always in new ways of teaching and learning and keen to support our students in their pursuit of knowledge, life skills and professional excellence. We also value equality – we were the first undergraduate College to be co-educational right from the start. And although we share some of the traditions of old Cambridge, we also pride ourselves on our informality and sense of community. Even our architecture and our fabulous gardens are spectacular departures from the traditional college model. We are Cambridge, but different.

It is a privilege and a pleasure to be Warden of this lively, enthusiastically modern College as we approach the fiftieth anniversary of our foundation. Whether you are a student or a potential student, an teacher or a researcher, a visitor or an alumnus, I look forward to welcoming you to Robinson.
