Our Estates Strategy: Shaping Robinson College for the Future
Robinson College’s buildings and grounds are central to how we live, study, work and build community. As our college approaches 50 years of use, we are setting out a clear Estates Strategy for 2025–2035 that explains how we will care for, improve and future‑proof our estate.
The strategy marks a shift from short‑term, reactive repairs toward a modern, planned and preventative approach to maintenance. By investing in better systems, surveys and digital tools, we can reduce unexpected failures, improve reliability and make better long‑term use of college funds — keeping spaces warm, safe, compliant and fit for purpose.
Alongside this, we are developing a long‑term Estates Masterplan. This will guide how Robinson evolves over the next decade, helping us prioritise investment in accommodation, teaching and shared spaces, protect our architectural heritage, and ensure the estate supports modern academic and community life.
Sustainability is a key part of our work. We are moving from high‑level environmental ambitions to a practical sustainability strategy, focusing on carbon reduction, energy efficiency, water use, waste and biodiversity — aligning with university and national targets.
Much of this work is already underway, including water‑ingress prevention, heating upgrades, asset surveys and conservation planning. Looking ahead, you will see further refurbishments, infrastructure improvements and the release of our masterplan.
We are committed to open communication and involvement. Updates will be shared here, and we encourage staff and students to report issues, share feedback and engage as we shape the future of Robinson College together.
