Graduation

Cambridge University degree ceremonies are known as Congregations of the Regent House and are one of the University’s oldest traditions. Their origin dates back around 800 years and they have taken place in the historic Senate House since the Eighteenth Century.

A Cambridge University degree candidate is awarded their degree when it is conferred upon them, either in person or in absence, at a Congregation of the Regent House. Those about to receive a degree are called graduands. They are presented at the Senate House by the college Praelector, by college and not by faculty or department.

Information on Robinson’s graduation arrangements and on how to apply to graduate are provided below. For further graduation-related enquiries, please contact the Praelector’s Secretary at ljh65@robinson.cam.ac.uk
