The MA Ceremony

Alumni who have already received a University of Cambridge Bachelor of Arts degree may be awarded the Master of Arts degree not less than six years from the end of their first term of residence. Further information on the MA degree is available here.

The degree ceremony on Saturday 23 May 2026 is Robinson’s main MA Ceremony for Master of Arts graduands who matriculated in 2019, who initially receive priority to apply to graduate then. This means that places for other candidates are limited.

The MA Ceremony application process is different to other degree ceremonies. In the January preceding the upcoming MA Ceremony, the Praelector’s Secretary emails MA Ceremony invitations to Robinson alumni who have just become eligible for the MA. The invitation includes detailed information on the ceremony and on how to apply to graduate. It is not possible to apply for the MA Ceremony before receipt of the email invitation.

Robinson hopes that those newly-eligible to receive the MA will opt to receive it in person at the MA Ceremony on Saturday 23 May 2026.

Alternatively, they may receive the MA in absence but if they do so, they are not permitted to attend a degree ceremony at any point for the conferral or celebration of the MA degree.

Newly-eligible MA graduands who cannot attend on Saturday 23 May 2026 may apply to receive the MA in person at a later degree ceremony that Robinson takes part in, apart from at General Admission.
