Graduation Day Arrangements at Robinson

Robinson graduands who receive their degree in person are invited to either a buffet or lunch (dependent on the number of attendees) at Robinson on their graduation day. The Praelector’s Secretary emails graduands comprehensive information on the ceremony following receipt of their graduation application.

Graduands must wear the correct academical dress. The University guidelines on academical dress are available here.

The Praelector conducts a short rehearsal with graduands at Robinson just before the ceremony in the Senate House.

Guest admission to the Senate House is by ticket only. Graduands do not need tickets.

The timings are normally set around a week or so before the ceremony takes place, once the Student Registry has announced the Senate House timetable. The Praelector’s Secretary emails the confirmed timings to graduands soon afterwards.

Due to capacity limits at the College and Senate House, we recommend that graduands do not make travel arrangements for a degree ceremony unless they have applied to receive their degree at the ceremony and only if they have received confirmation from the Praelector’s Secretary that their name is in the line-up to receive their degree at that ceremony.

Alternatively, graduands may receive their degree in absence but if they do so, they are not allowed to attend a degree ceremony at any point for the conferral or celebration of that degree. Graduands may apply to receive their degree in absence at one of the degree ceremonies that Robinson will take part in, or alternatively at a ceremony where only in-absence graduation is permitted. The Praelector’s Secretary confirms the next applicable in-absence date to applicants.
