When applying to university, you'll need to consider a range of costs, including tuition fees and living costs. The information on this page is for offer holders with Home fee status. However, if your Student Support application is unsuccessful on grounds of residence or immigration status, then you may be reclassified as having International fee status, and be subject to the higher rate of tuition fees and a College fee. If this happens to you, then you must inform the College in writing.
There’s a range of financial help available to students at Cambridge, including Government Financial Support and Cambridge Financial Support. Eligibility for other government and University funding usually depends on your financial circumstances.
The information on this page has been divided into the following sections for ease of navigation. Please have a look at the information as relevant to you:
The tuition fee for Home fee status students starting their first undergraduate degree in 2025 will be £9,535 (subject to approval) for the year. The government regulated tuition fee for 2026-27 hasn't been set. It may be different from the tuition fee for 2025 and details will be published here as soon as they are available.
Home fee status students can take out a government loan for their tuition fees. At the moment, payment of this loan can be deferred until you've left university and are earning a minimum salary, at which point the loan is repaid in instalments. Please check information on government financial support and contact the appropriate student finance award agency for details about tuition fee support.
'Living costs' cover whatever you need to pay for, excluding tuition fees, while you're at university – for example, accommodation, food, study materials, personal expenses and transport. Find out more
Support arrangements can also vary according to where you're from in the UK. You should refer to the appropriate finance award agency website, listed below, for the most up-to-date information, guidance and how to apply:
You’re strongly advised to apply for financial support as early as possible, and you don’t need a confirmed place at a university to apply for this. We expect student finance applications for full-time undergraduates to launch in early March.
Cambridge Bursary Scheme: You must apply for a student loan/financial assistance through your own regional Student Finance body (see above) in order to be eligible for the Cambridge Bursary. There is no separate application process for the bursary. Your household income figure calculated by your student finance body is used as the basis on which to determine the level of Cambridge Bursary you will receive.
