We were delighted to welcome back the Financial Times US News Editor and Robinson alumnus Andrew Edgecliffe-Johnson who read MML at Robinson from 1990. A group of students interested in a career in journalism gathered to hear about Andrew’s journey from Varsity to the FT.

It was during his stint as a student editor at Varsity that Andrew was taken on by the Daily Telegraph, eventually moving to London after graduation and working there full time. He later moved to the FT and he now based in New York as US News Editor. Andrew spoke about the importance of good quality journalism, particularly since the rise of ‘fake news’ and how crucial fact checking is to FT journalists. A lively discussion followed about AI in journalism and how this might impact future careers.
