Congratulations to Robinson 5th year medic Shubang Nagalotimath for his powerlifting success this year.
Shubang competed at the British open powerlifting championships last November as a Junior lifter in the open age class and placed 11th in the 93kg weight class, lifting 760kgs at a bodyweight of 89.7kgs (giving a GL of 101.2 which is elite standard).
Shubang became the strongest ever Junior lifter (U23) in Cambridge University history irrespective of weight class and the 2nd strongest lifter ever only beaten by Frank Sanders 770kg at 120kg body weight, age 26.
Shubang's other powerlifting achievements:
275kg squat took the all time 93kg CUPLC club record
325kg deadlift broke the East midlands deadlift record and the CUPLC all time deadlift record
760kg total matched the East midlands total record
Shubang was part of the CUPLC who won Varsity this year and is currently preparing for BUCS Powerlifting Championship 18-20 April.
