Sugden Prize Success for Dr Massey and Professor Swaminathan

Dr Massey (MHI-Robinson Senior Research Fellow) and Professor Swaminathan (Engineering) are part of a team that have recently received the Sugden Prize from The Combustion Institute (British Section) for the best journal article published in 2023. The research is a collaboration between the Department of Engineering Cambridge and UCL Mechanical Engineering, and supported by funding from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd., Takasago, Japan.

In the award-winning paper 'Influences of heat release, blockage ratio and swirl on the recirculation zone behind a bluff body', the team investigated the influences of the swirl number, blockage ratio and heat release on flow structures. Find out more:
