Research Interests
Research interests Twentieth century British Social and Cultural History; the history of feminism, child psychology and war and social policy. Currently preparing a book on the history of punishment in Britain after 1900 and has published on women’s work in the first world war and the history of education.
Teaching Interests
She teaches on the papers 10 and 11 in part 1 History on the Social Economic and Cultural history of Britain and contributes to two of the themes and sources papers on the history of the emotions and on the body in European history after 1750, on the politics of gender in part 2 History. Also teaches on the paper on the family in part 2 PPS and has lectured on the history of psychology and psychiatry in HPS. She has graduate students in History and PPS as well as in gender studies.
