Meet the calling team

Mary Anna

I am a third-year English student. I am very much looking forward to being part of this year's Telephone Campaign mainly because I love hearing about and talking about Robinson. Although Robinson is younger than any other Cambridge college, it is fascinating to hear from alumni how much has changed over the past five decades!

A particular highlight of my time at Robinson has been co-captaining our Women's Netball Team. Thanks to generous financial support, we were able to make our first trip to Oxford to play against St Catherine's (our sister college) last year, which was really special.

I feel very fortunate to have made so many fond memories at Robinson. And I look forward to hearing how Robinson has shaped the lives of its alumni and sharing some of the experiences that have shaped my own!

Omar

I am a second-year Medicine student. My favourite hobbies are sports, especially tennis, football and basketball.

Having been a part of last year’s Telephone Campaign, I decided to come back because I really enjoyed speaking to alumni and friends of the college, finding out about all the wonderful paths that our graduates have taken, and how their time at Robinson has shaped the rest of their lives. As well as this, the campaign aims to raise money that goes towards helping our students have a positive and enriched experience at Robinson, no matter their background, which is something that I am passionate about.

The thing I love about Robinson is the down-to-earth and calm environment, it is far from the centre and feels a lot more relaxed than other colleges. Also, you feel like everyone is very tight-knit and you can easily get to know others.

Rivie

I am a second-year Design student. I love the caring and friendly feel of Robinson it is such a fun community, and I really appreciate the delicious food in the garden restaurant. I enjoy getting involved in the many activities Robinson offers such as our quiz nights, attending the concerts and recitals and karaoke evenings. I also love a bit of competition and represent the college in the University Athletics Club.

I am really looking forward to returning to the Telephone Campaign because I see so much value in supporting the relationship that Robinson has with the alumni. I also find it very inspiring to discover the paths people have taken after studying at Cambridge University.

I can't wait to learn so much more about the college while studying at Robinson. Listening to the choir rehearse while studying, wandering the gardens and the Robinson architecture are my highlights of the college so far.

Samuel

I am a third-year Design student, and a proud Binsonian. I study Architecture and Engineering and am involved with the Architecture Society. I am actively involved in student theatre and comedy as writer, performer, and director alongside the Footlights.

I love the tight-knit student community at Robinson, and spend my spare evenings socialising in the bar, JCR, in a friend's room or in the Bop.

I am a direct applicant to the college, convinced by the welcoming environment created by fellow students and staff. I applied to the Telephone Campaign to ensure that future applicants receive the same warmth, quality, and opportunity that I do.

Sia

I am a final-year Modern & Medieval Languages student, studying Spanish and Portuguese after a year abroad in Latin America. I am really looking forward to hearing our alumni’s stories while helping to raise funds for our current and prospective Robinson students.

I have been closely involved in College life as Captain of our Mixed Lacrosse Team, and as a recipient of the Chaffield Shaw Travel Fund, so I understand the host of benefits alumni funding can bring to student life. It will be a pleasure to help support Robinson’s thriving sports, arts, and academic communities, while helping secure opportunities for students in years to come.

Robinson is known for its warm and welcoming community, and I will bring that same spirit to my conversations with alumni. I look forward to connecting with Binsonians around the globe to discuss the abundance of opportunities possible within the bricks!

Sophia

I am a third-year History student, with a passion for modern British and American history. I am looking forward to taking part in my second Telephone Campaign this September because I enjoyed hearing about alumni experiences while simultaneously raising donations for current and prospective students.

My time at Robinson thus far has consisted of active participation in Robinson College Boat Club, of which I was Women’s Captain, so I fully understand the importance of donations sustaining college sport. I have also benefited from the college’s wellbeing activities, especially the Monday evening yoga sessions.

My favourite aspect of Robinson is its welcoming, close-knit community. It is a spirit I bring to my conversations with alumni, helping to ensure that even beyond the bricks, Binsonians remain connected.

Tom

I am a second-year Music student. The Telephone Campaign is such an exciting experience to be a part of both personally and in what it gives to the college. Robinson is such a tight-knit community and one which alumni are a huge part of; I cannot wait to hear about stories of their time here, both our shared experiences and what has changed.

As a member of the College Choir, Music Society and Football teams, Robinson has given me so many opportunities. I hope that through my role in the campaign I can help in a small way to ensure that future students can continue to have the experiences I have benefited so greatly from and enjoyed so much.

Despite the beautiful gardens, amazing food and numerous societies, my favourite part of Robinson really is the people. The campaign is an amazing opportunity to give back to these people, while meeting and learning from past Binsonians, and only further becoming immersed in this amazing community.
