Robinson College News
22 May 2020

Cambridge has been much in the news this week, and you may have seen the press coverage of the University's plans to continue to provide lectures online during the next academic year. As a Robinsonian, you will know that lectures are only part of what makes a Cambridge education one of the best in the world, and Robinson is aiming—with the RCSA and MCR—to bring students back to Cambridge this autumn if health regulations allow. Stay tuned for further announcements as our plans unfold.

In the meantime our Senior Tutor, Dr David Woodman, has allowed us to share the paper he delivered to College Council earlier this month, which looks back on how Robinson acted to safeguard the health and wellbeing of our students at this time of crisis. In an Easter term like no other, it's perhaps unsurprising that this very special College puts its people first.

One of the students who didn't go home at the start of lockdown is James Millington (Anglo-Saxon, Norse and Celtic, 2017), and he has kindly shared his experience of being locked down in College. James is dealing with isolation in a typically positive spirit, by expanding his cooking repertoire as well as his language skills. We wish him safe and well.

Term certainly isn't the same in the red brick fort without our students, and it seems they miss Robinson as much as we miss them.
Throughout the month of May the RCSA has been posting photographs celebrating their most memorable moments of Robinson life on social media, and they warmly enourage alumni to join in by posting using the hashtag #RobinsonRemembers.

Until we can welcome you back to Robinson in person, we're planning a series of events bringing Robinson College to you. One of the first of these 'home visits' will be our Donor Day on 28th June, when we will be saying thank you to those who have supported Robinson College over the years in one way or another. Look out for a Save the Date in your inbox very soon.

If you have your own story to tell, please share it with us on development-office@robinson.cam.ac.uk.

With very best wishes from all at Robinson,

Sarah, Catherine, Helen and Norbert
