Members and Friends of Robinson College are invited to a dinner at 6.30pm on the evening of Sunday 11th September 2016 at the World Trade Centre Club, Causeway Bay, to celebrate a visit to Hong Kong by Dr C P and Mrs Maureen Hughes. Dr Hughes is in Hong Kong to present the 2016 Prince Philip Scholarships on the 35th anniversary of the awards.
Dr Christopher Hughes was a Founding Fellow of Robinson and was Senior Tutor from 1982 to 1997 and combined this role with that of Admissions Tutor 1982 - 1992. He was a member of the Department of Earth Sciences and also served for seven years on the University of Cambridge Council and the General Board. In 1997, he became Chief Executive of the Associated Examination Board (AEB) based in Guildford and subsequently played a leading role in the formation of AQA through the merger of the AEB with the Northern Examinations and Assessment Board (NEAB). Now in retirement, he visits Robinson regularly and continues his link with Cambridge through being a Trustee of the Needham Research Institute. He also continues to have a link with education through working with The Valley Trust, which helps school children in difficult circumstances in Surrey and adjoining areas.
Tickets are £60 (HK$600) per head and guests (including children at the same cost) are welcome to attend. Please book in advance using the online booking form. Please note that the Robinson Development Office is closed during the College’s annual maintenance fortnight from Friday 12th August and re-opens on Tuesday 30th August (Monday 29th August being a public holiday in Cambridge). If you book during this time, you will receive a brief automatic confirmation message and a more detailed confirmation will follow on, or shortly after, 30th August.
The Robinson Greater China Alumni Group Committee looks forward to welcoming as many members and friends of Robinson as possible to celebrate Dr and Mrs Hughes’ visit to Hong Kong.
