'It has been an enormous privilege to serve this great College as Warden for the past 20 years, and the comradeship and counsel I've received from Robinsons's alumni and friends have been an enormous assistance to me in fulfilling the duties of office, as well as helping to ensure that the position of Warden of Robinson is such fun (the last 18 months excepted, of course). I have no intention of losing touch with the College or with the many friends that I have made from amongst the College’s friends and alumni'

Professor David Yates, Warden of Robinson College

Robinson's second Warden, Professor David Yates, steps down today after two decades in office.

It is difficult to summarise the achievements of those 20 years, which have seen the College go from strength to strength under David's leadership. During the last 18 months of that term, all of David's experience and strength of purpose were brought to bear as he steered Robinson expertly through a global pandemic. We have never been more grateful for his guiding hand. Robinson owes him a lot.

We look forward to welcoming David back to Robinson in his new guise as an Emeritus Fellow, but until then we wish him and Sue a long and happy retirement, which David plans to fill with travel, some teaching and writing, and above all else, a well-earned break.

You can read more about David's life at Robinson in the recent celebratory edition of Bin Brook, now available online.
