Robinson student Book Collecting Prize Winner annnounced.

February 16, 2025
Alex Myall & Tintin book

Congratulations to Alex Myall who has been awarded the Robinson Book Collecting Prize for his Collection of Tintin graphic novels.

The judging panel said:
After discussion of each of the entries the panel decided to award the Book Collecting Prize to the Collection of Tintin graphic novels. Although in genre and theme this is a unitary collection, the explanation of the genesis and growth of the collection sparked interest and further questions. The novels span an unexpectedly long period and reflect social and political issues to a degree of which those casually aware of the series may not be aware; as a collection they sketch a history from Russia in the 1920’s to the political turmoils in the west in the 1970’s. The collection had been built up over a number of years, including volumes first found by the entrant’s father, and from a number of sources – it is this, together with the various signs of prior ownership and use, that adds to the value of the collection. It is evidently a dynamic collection with a few volumes yet to be found. The presentation was enlivened by some well-chosen illustrations.

Alex's entry, along with two commended submissions, will be displayed in the Robinson College Library for the rest of Lent Term.

Upon received the Prize Alex said "I am very glad to win this prize and it is an honour to promote the fantastic work of Tintin!"
