Two second year Robinson undergrad medics published in the journal Pediatrics.

A fantastic achievement for two second year Robinson undergrad medics who have been published in the journal Pediatrics.

Hilary Patankar and Shebang Nagalotimath, produced the paper alongside PhD student Grace Kromm and Consultant Neonatologist Dr Hilary Wong, supervised by Senior Robinson member Dr Topun Austin. The paper reviews all the published research on newborn infants who suffer brain injury at birth (hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy).   Much of the current research focus tends to be on motor disability (cerebral palsy), yet the longer term emotional and psychological problems these babies face in childhood is less well researched.  The study aimed to highlight this issue and most importantly highlight the gaps in our knowledge as a driver for future research programmes.  Read the research here

Congrats to Hilary and Shebang this is a great achievement for second year students to be published in a major peer reviewed journal!
