Ross Reason appointed as Finance Bursar

We’re pleased to announce that Ross Reason has been appointed as Finance Bursar of Robinson College. He succeeds Fiona Brockbank, who is taking on the role of Chief Financial Officer at The Perse School.
Ross is a University of Cambridge graduate, having read Economics at Magdalene College. He subsequently trained as an accountant with PWC, before holding a number of senior trading, investment and treasurer positions in London and Hong Kong. Ross has held several non-Exec Directorships including current roles in Investment management, pension and charitable companies. Ross was also Fiona’s predecessor in the role of Finance Bursar from 2006-2018.
On returning to Robinson College, Ross said “I am delighted to be returning as Bursar and am looking forward to reconnecting with old colleagues as well as meeting new ones. As we approach our 50th anniversary I am hoping to help in ensuring our building is fit for another 50 years and that our finances can support both the very substantial work on it that will be required whilst at the same time supporting our academic goals”.
Robinson’s Warden, Sir Richard Heaton KCB, said “I am delighted to welcome Ross Reason on his return to the role of Finance Bursar at Robinson. For over 20 years, he has been a Fellow and a strong supporter of the College. As Finance Bursar, his wisdom, guidance and experience will once again be immensely valuable to us all.”
Fiona, also a Cambridge University graduate having read Mathematics at Murray Edwards, trained as a chartered accountant at Deloitte then went on to build her career in senior finance roles across a range of sectors before joining Robinson in 2018. She has therefore brought valuable commercial experience to the College, which has supported the navigation of complex financial and operational challenges.
On her time at Robinson College, Fiona said:
“It has been a privilege to be Finance Bursar at this remarkable College, which combines modernity with the best of Cambridge traditions. During my time in post, the College has faced a number of challenges — from the impact of the pandemic to the ongoing demands of a modern operating environment — and made substantial progress on key estates priorities. As I hand the baton to Ross, I wish him every success.”
We wish Fiona the very best of luck in her new role and extend to Ross a warm welcome back to Robinson College.
