The season of Advent is traditionally a time of preparation for Christmas. Originally it stretched from St Martin’s Day (11th November) to Christmas Eve, and was known as ‘The Lent of St Martin.’ This title suggests the parallel between Advent and the Lenten fast. Meditations on the themes of judgment and our ultimate destiny were developed for each of the four Sundays of Advent. The Advent Carol Service is a reflection of our beliefs and a contemplation of the story of Christmas.
The Advent Carol Service will be held on Sunday 27th November at 16:00 in the College Chapel. With a series of carols, hymns and readings, the congregation will celebrate the beginning of Advent and the Christmas story.
We are looking forward to welcoming you to the Robinson College Chapel and to joining the congregation at this special service.
