Professor Myles Burnyeat CBE, FBA (1 January 1939 - 20 September 2019)
Fellow of Robinson College from 1978 to 1996 and Honorary Fellow from 2006
A small and informal memorial event will be held for Professor Myles Burnyeat at 4-5.30 p.m. on Sunday 11 September at the Robinson's Crausaz Wordsworth Building on Adams Road, Cambridge. It will be officiated by the College Chaplain Rev'd Dr Simon Perry. From 4.00pm we will have around thirty minutes for any members of the congregation to recount any stories or memories of Professor Burnyeat they may like to share. Drinks and a light buffet reception will follow.
Myles' family will be particularly pleased to meet any of his former students and colleagues, and you would be very welcome to join us.
On the following two days (September 12-13) the Southern Association for Ancient Philosophy will meet in Cambridge. In lieu of the celebrations that had to be cancelled in 2020, most of the papers will focus on Professor Myles Burnyeat’s work and will include a book launch of his posthumously published papers. If you wish to attend that meeting, please follow this link for more information and to register.
