Robinson student Jingyu's composition to be performed at the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra

Congratulations to Robinson College PhD student Jingyu Chen, who has been chosen as one of the final 4 in an international competition in Tokyo. Her composition will be performed by the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra later this month

Born in Guangdong, China, she has a Bachelor's degree from the Royal Northern College of Music and a Master's degree from the Royal College of Music and is currently studying for her PhD in composition.

Congratulations to Robinson College apprentice gardener Nicholas Warrington on passing his Horticulture Operative Level 2 with Distinction.

Nicholas has a natural talent for gardening and his cheery disposition, as he helps the Robinson College gardening team care for our spectacular gardens, is always a pleasure to see.

Well done Nicholas and thanks for all your hard work!
 

Congratulations to the Robinson College rugby team

Last Friday the Robinson College Rugby Team were victorious in the 2023/24 Cuppers Shield at Shelford Rugby Club.

They reached the final following a nail biting semi-final against the All Greys -  17-17 at full time, won by Robinson in a penalty shoot out.  They faced Downing/Gonville & Caius in the final, this time with a clear win of 42-12.

Reunion Weekend and Dinner

Robinson's September Reunion Dinner will be held on Saturday 28 September 2024. This special annual event hosted by the Warden will celebrate Robinsonians who matriculated in 1984, 1994, 2004 and 2014. Alumni and their guests will have an opportunity to stay in the College for the weekend.

The Princess of Girona Award for Scientific Research

Congratulations to Bartomeu Monserrat, Robinson Fellow and Professor of Materials Physics at the Department of Materials Science and Metallurgy, was recently selected as one of five finalists of ‘The Princess of Girona Award for Scientific Research’. He presented his scientific work in Santander, Spain to an audience of young students and met the King of Spain together with the other finalists.

Dr Emma Cooper

Last night the College welcomed Dr Emma Cooper to the Fellowship.

Emma is a University Assistant Professor in Literacy Education at the Faculty of Education. Her research interests include curriculum studies, multimodal literacies, and social semiotics. ‘I’m so thankful for the very warm welcome I have received from the Robinson community and I’m very much looking forward to supporting this community as a Fellow’.
