Professor Amy Erickson spoke at a history society meeting of the Merchant Taylors’ and the Skinners’ Companies

Robinson's Director of Studies in History, Professor Amy Erickson, spoke last month to a history society meeting of the Merchant Taylors’ and the Skinners’ Companies about women in London’s livery companies in the 18th century. She highlighted the problem of identifying which company women belonged to due to marital name changes and their membership through a husband’s company.

Robinson at the Varsity Lawn Tennis and Cricket

Congratulations to the Robinson students who represented Cambridge University last weekend in the Varsity Lawn Tennis and Cricket.

Holly Dulieu was part of the Cambridge Lawn Tennis Team who took on Oxford for the 134th year.  Holly was playing at third seed and doubles at pair 1 with Ruby Hart. She plays right handed and her favourite shot is cross court backhand. Although Cambridge lost 12-8 to Oxford it was very close and Holly won 4 out of 5 of her matches.
Robinson’s Vanessa Xie also played for W5.

Phoebe Barker is Cambridge University Sports Person of the Year 2024

Congratulations to Robinson Veterinary student Phoebe Barker for her well deserved award 'Cambridge University Sports Person of the Year 2024'.

This is what Cambridge University Sport say about Phoebe:

Phoebe is an incredibly talented athlete, who balances three sports (running, cycling, swimming) and four University Sports Clubs at Blues/National/International level (Hare and Hounds, Athletics, Triathlon, Cycling), whilst studying for her final year of Veterinary Medicine.

Congratulations to Dr Bill Nolan, who has received an academic promotion

We are delighted to announce that Robinson Fellow Dr Bill Nolan been promoted to unestablished Teaching Professorship (Grade 11) in the Teaching and Scholarship pathway.

“These promotions recognise the outstanding contributions that each person has made to research, teaching, and more widely to the University and scientific community. I am absolutely delighted to hear of these promotions – many congratulations to one and all,” said Head of Department James Keeler, Yusuf Hamied Department of Chemistry.
