The Architecture Tripos gives an unrivalled design-based general degree to some of our graduates, but for most it is the first step to the profession. It cumulatively provides exemption from part 1 of the RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) Examination, and it must therefore be taken as a whole.

Subject Requirements

Essential All applicants are expected to show a portfolio of recent work at interview.

Desirable: AS or A Level / IB Standard or Higher Level Mathematics or Physics.

Archaeology covers a huge range of topics, spanning the evolution of humans through the development of farming, ancient civilisations and world empires, as well as the role of material culture in human life and of heritage in modern societies. Students can follow several streams – Archaeology (covering all world cultures), Biological Anthropology, Egyptology and Assyriology.  

The Anglo-Saxon, Norse, and Celtic Tripos (known as ASNC) offers a unique opportunity to study the history, languages and literatures of the peoples of the British Isles, and Scandinavia, mainly in the early medieval period. It is unique in that there are few other courses which allow you, for example, not only to study Anglo-Saxon history, but at the same time to be able to read - in the original - the writings of the Anglo-Saxons, and of their neighbours the Irish and Welsh, as well as studying the handwriting of the manuscripts which these peoples have left us.
