Philosophy

Few students study philosophy at school, and so nearly all philosophy undergraduates enter Cambridge fresh to the subject.

Natural Sciences (Physical)

The Natural Sciences course is designed to allow students a large degree of flexibility in their studies. Students need not have a plan for the entire course as they can study a broad range of subjects in the first year and then become increasingly specialised in the area that most interests them. While Natural Science students can afford to be undecided about their future specialisation, they must nevertheless be committed and highly motivated as the course is demanding and challenging for even the most gifted students.

Music

Robinson College has a thriving musical life involving a wide range of students, a regular concert series each term, an excellent chapel choir, as well as a variety of orchestral and choral concerts, a rock band, musicals, and much more. Recent performances at Robinson have included Duruflé's Requiem, two of Bach’s Brandenburg concertos, Schumann’s Piano Quartet and a new symphony by a current Robinson student.

Modern and Medieval Languages

The Modern Languages course at Cambridge offers students a variety of languages to choose from and a wide range of options for close study within each language area. It provides a sound linguistic foundation from which to approach the literature, history and culture of the relevant countries. It leads on to a very wide variety of careers; Cambridge Modern Linguists are highly sought-after by employers.

Medicine

Robinson College offers not only a high standard of modern accommodation and facilities, but also has teaching fellows who work in both pre-clinical and clinical departments. Therefore our students are taught, advised and cared for by tutors with an understanding of their long-term hopes and ambitions.

Mathematics

If you enjoy the challenge of solving difficult problems and are fascinated by all things mathematical, Cambridge could be the right place for you. The Mathematical Tripos is the most demanding undergraduate mathematics course available in Britain and also one of the most rewarding. Because there are around 250 new students each year, the department can offer a very wide range of courses. The BA degree in Mathematics comprises three years of study. In the first year (Part IA) there are only two options:

Pure and Applied Mathematics
Mathematics with Physics

Management Studies

The Management Studies Tripos is a one year course that students take in their final year, though currently this can be either their third or fourth year. You cannot apply to Cambridge to take Management Studies, and hence you would need to apply and be admitted to read another subject for the first two or three years. It does not matter which subject that is.

Linguistics

Language is central to our human nature, and linguistics is the systematic study of human language. Linguists not only describe the diverse characteristics of individual languages but also seek to discover the deeper properties which all languages share. Part of the appeal of linguistics is that it draws on methods and knowledge from an unusually wide range of scholarship and transcends the usual subject boundaries.

Law

Being a Law student at Robinson means being part of a hard-working but very friendly academic community. We have had many extremely successful students in the past and are always looking for students who are likely to excel in the future. If you have a logical approach to reasoning, enjoy problem solving, can write easily and are prepared to meet the challenge of a degree that is among the most rigorous in the University, then whatever your other interests and activities you would fit in very well here.
